Dr. Shashi Tiwari is a recipient of the “Rashtrapati Samman” (Certificate of Honor from President of India) for Sanskrit in the year 2015 and a respected Vedic and Sanskrit scholar. She received her Ph.D. degree in Sanskrit from the University of Lucknow in 1968. She has served as a visiting professor at ‘Hindu University of America’, Orlando, the USA since 2002, and has guided over a dozen students who have received their Ph.D./M.Phil degrees till date.
Dr. Shashi Tiwari has worked extensively for the promotion of Vedic knowledge as the General Secretary/ President of ‘Wider Association for Vedic Studies’ (WAVES), a registered academic society since 1996, through which she has organized twenty-two National Conferences with International participation in the different parts of India. She has contributed continuously in Vedic research through her active participation in more than thirty international conferences held in USA, Italy, Canada, Nepal, and South Korea.
Dr. Tiwari has published thirty-two books related to Vedic and Sanskrit subjects in Hindi, English or Sanskrit languages. Some of them are: Rigvediya Aprisukta (1981), Mundakopanishad (1981), Ishavasyopanishad (1986), Surya Devata- Vedic our Vedottar Sanskrit Surya-stutiyon mein (1994), Sanskrit-Lokokti-Kosha (1996), Sanskrit Sahitya Ka Itihas (1999), Rigvaidika Adhyayan (1999, 2018), Vaidik Adhyayan (Vedic Studies) (2004), Sanskrit-Sahitya me Rashtravada our Bharatiya Rajashastra (2013), Veda-Vyakhya-Paddhatayah (in Sanskrit) (2014), Sanskrit – Sahityanushilanam (in Sanskrit) (2015). Her five books received eight awards from Sanskrit academies. Her new four books based on Sankaracharya, Spirituality and Vedic Studies are just released in 2017.
Dr. Shashi Tiwari has been honored with more than twenty academic awards from various academic institutions of India. Few of them are: Bharati Mishra Award (1989) by Rajasthan Sanskrit Academy; Sanskrit Sikshak Puraskar (1994), Akhil Bhartiya Sanskrit Sahitya Maulik Rachna Puraskar (1994, 2000), Sanskrit Sahitya Seva Samman (2005) by Delhi Sanskrit Academy; Sarjana Puraskar (2000) by Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan, Lucknow; Sanskrit Sahitya Puraskar (1997, 2000), Vishishta Puraskar (2007), Maharshi Vyas Samman (2014) by Uttar Pradesh Sanskrit Sansthan, Lucknow.
