Dr. Ramakrishna Narayanaswami was born and brought up in Tripunithura, Kerala State, India. He graduated from Tripunithura Boys’ High School and got his B. Sc. (Engg) degree from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum and his M. Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. He worked as Assistant Professor at the Government Engineering Colleges of Kerala at Trivandrum and Trichur for a few years. He moved to the USA and obtained his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, USA. He was awarded the prestigious National Research Council – National Science Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellowship for research at NASA Langley Research Center in Virginia for 2 years.
He spent a further 3 years at NASA Langley as a Research Scientist. Dr. Ramakrishna Narayanaswami was the Founder Chairman of 3 successful companies. The first company, CSAR Corporation, was an Intellectual Property based company that developed the CSA/NASTRAN software program with advanced specialized capabilities for engineering analyses used by space, aerospace, and automotive companies worldwide. The second and third companies were services-based: CSM Software Private Limited and CSM Software USA, LLC. Presently he is fully retired from professional work and lives in Westlake Village, CA.
Dr. Ramakrishna Narayanaswami has been a Vedic practitioner since his childhood. He had further Vedic studies under Guru Cochin Srinivasa Iyer and continues such studies by svādhyāya (self-learning and study). He has taught the dashopanishads (the 10 major Upanishads) in a 4-year period in the early 2000s and the Vedas for the past 20 years to his friends in the Westlake Village area.
During his intense personal search since 2007 to understand the wisdom in the Vedas, he had a by-chance meeting in 2012 with Professor R.L. Kashyap who introduced him to the spiritual and psychological meanings of, and the wisdom in, the Vedas. He has been doing research on the Vedas under Prof. Kashyap since that meeting and has taught spirituality and wisdom aspects of the Veda Samhitas to his friends. Dr. Ramakrishna Narayanaswami guided and edited the Malayalam translation of the four ‘Essentials’ series booklets of Prof. Kashyap on the Rig Veda, Yajur Veda, Sama Veda and the Atharva Veda.
His book, “Understanding the Vedas”, was published by Amazon Publishing as a kindle e-book in October 2020 and as Paperback and Hardcopy editions in 2021. The paperback versions of the book in India are published by SAKSHI Publications, Jaya Nagar, Bengaluru, India (indo@vedah.com). This book is the outgrowth of his life-long Veda Practices and his study, research, and lectures on the Vedas and Upanishads.
