Mrs. Lakshmi Subramanian

Lakshmi Chandrashekar Subramanian is a professional vocalist and independent scholar who brings bhakti music and scholarship onto one platform. She holds an MA in Religious Studies from Stanford University and undergraduate degrees in Business and Middle Eastern & South Asian Studies from Emory University. She has consulted for Syracuse University, Stanford University, Sony Music and VICE Media. Lakshmi is a frequent contributor to Hinduism Today, for which she writes about the great Indian poet saints. 

Lakshmi Subramanian also has several album credits and creates Electronic Bhakti Music with her husband Aks in Los Angeles. Through engaging live concerts, albums and videos, Aks & Lakshmi present the peace, love and pluralistic vision of poet-saints such as Adi Shankaracharya, Kabir, Mirabai, and Surdas to multi-faith audiences. As guest presenters at Princeton University, Stanford University and the Parliament of World Religions, the content of their sacred music brings strong educational value to institutions. They have also been featured as cultural ambassadors at the American and Indian Embassies.
