In this course Beginning Sanskrit the students will be able to:
In this course Beginning Sanskrit the students focus on enhancing their vocabulary and grammar using an application oriented approach. They will be introduced to new concepts like tumun (infinitives), nouns and verb forms in singular, dual and plural; newer vocabulary like pairing words, antonyms, body parts, relationships, numbers till hundred, words used in comparisons, and more. They explore many prahelikāḥ (riddles), subhāśitāni ( wise sayings), comics, songs and stories in Saṃskṛtam.
Students will have a dedicated 1.5 hours of contact time with the faculty each week. The class is carefully structured to facilitate effective learning in an online face-to-face format. The curriculum is designed to build upon the knowledge gained in previous classes. Regular homework assignments will provide valuable opportunities to practice the concepts covered in class. Successful completion of the course requires the submission of graded homework and the final Quarter End Exam (QEE).
