In this course, students will be able to:
Ayurveda promotes health and well-being through a deeply personalized approach. This course will introduce the foundational principles of Ayurveda, including doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and Agni- Ama, and explain how these concepts apply to the unique physical, emotional, and hormonal transitions that women experience in different phases of their life. Participants will explore Ayurvedic practices for adolescent care, including balanced diet recipes from classical texts to promote healthy menarche and menstrual cycles (Ritu Chakra) and guidelines for menstruating women (Rajaswala Paricharya) – a practical do’s and don’ts list as described in Ayurvedic texts.
In addition to addressing stress, sleep, hormonal imbalances participants will gain practical tools for managing emotional well-being through Ayurvedic practices. To enhance learning many unique approaches of Ayurveda such as Sutika Paricharya (postpartum care) protocol after childbirth, and Rasayana Chikitsa (rejuvenating care) for menopausal women and healthy aging will be discussed. The course will highlight key herbs and formulations from classical Ayurvedic texts, empowering participants to apply these teachings for their well-being. By the end of the course, participants will have developed a personalized blueprint for integrating Ayurvedic wisdom into their lives, fostering self-care, balance, immunity and long-term vitality at every stage of life.
There will be a minimum of 1.5 contact hours with one or more faculty every week for 11 weeks.
The class is structured in a way that promotes interactive teaching, reference readings, discussion and debate. Interesting practical assignments to give hands on experience of Ayurveda guidelines in women’s wellness. Each class will be comprised of 1 hour teaching and 30minutes for interaction on the topic. During the course, students will complete time to time assignments.
